PTFE Plain Bushing Purchasing FAQ

Can these PTFE plain bushings directly replace my current bronze or DU bushings?

Yes, in most standard radial applications. Our bushings are manufactured to standard outer diameter tolerances for press-fit into H7 housings, with shaft tolerance f7 to h8 . The PTFE sliding layer forms a transfer film on the mating shaft during run-in, eliminating the need for greasing points without requiring housing modification. Send your current bushing drawing and we will confirm wall thickness and fit.

What shaft hardness and surface finish do you recommend?

Unlike rolling bearings, PTFE plain bushings accept unhardened shafts. Recommended shaft surface roughness is ≤ Rz 2–3 (approximately Ra 0.2–0.4 μm), and the shaft can be steel, hardened or untempered . This reduces machining cost for your mating components compared with hardened-shaft bearing solutions.

What is the MOQ and sample lead time for standard sizes vs. custom dimensions?

Standard metric sizes ship from stock tooling with low MOQ, samples free for your testing. Custom dimensions (non-standard wall thickness or ID/OD) require drawing review before quoting. Sample lead time is typically 7 days if there is stock, Custom dimensions samples need more time because it need to make tooling. Send your drawing for a specific quote.

Do you offer lead-free versions for EU-bound shipments?

Yes. Our SF-1W series is a lead-free equivalent to standard DU bushings, fully compliant with RoHS requirements without sacrificing load capacity or temperature range. It is suitable for European OEM supply chains and any application with heavy-metal restrictions.

What happens if my application exceeds the dry-running PV limit?

The standard dry PV limit for our PTFE plain bushings is 3.6 N/mm²·m/s, with maximum load 140 N/mm² and sliding speed 5 m/s . If your calculated PV exceeds this, we recommend either switching to an oil-assisted variant (PV up to 50 N/mm²·m/s) or reviewing the duty cycle with our engineering team. We can also assess whether a different SF series variant (SF-1D for hydraulic reciprocation, for example) better matches your motion profile.
